Mytchett 3 - Farnborough Invincibles 3
Going into this match the omens were not good, having our goal keeper still sidelined with his broken toe, and stand in keeper craig away on his hols.
However Sam Stood up to take the challenge and the important task of keeping the team that has beaten us before by 7-0 and 8-0 at bay.
The match began and stopped all in the first 6 mins having mytchett take the lead then a challenge on Jordan saw him whisked to hospital with a dislocated knee.
The match got back under way with the Invincibles determined to do their best for Jordy, and it wasn't long before they started to dominate the game for long periods of time.
Some great team work down the left and the middle saw Marcus take on 3 players before calmly crossing a low ball to the eager feet of Dan North who made no mistake in levelling the scores.
We took the game and played some great football passing the ball well and gelling as a team.
The omens seemed to smile for a while as a throw in by Sam Jones released Steven Field Down on the left Side, passing one player before making a perfect cross, which some how found its way in to the back of the net, to make it 2-1 to the Invincibles.
Then Mytchett against the run of play and a rare attack saw them level things just before half time.
The second half saw the Invincibles start as if they had just got out of bed, some wayward passing and poor clearances, lead to mytchett having the better of the first 15 mins, but then a quick break and some fine team work between Dan North , Steven F AN d Marcus saw Marcus get a lovely through ball and slot i t passed the keeper to regain the lead.
It then got a little heated as a few dirty tackles went flying in , mainly from one player, we held our ground well and didn't get involved with the dirty play.
However the defence were caught napping as a run down the right side and a low cross saw an easy tap in for mytchett to equalise.
We had a few good chances at the end to seal what should have been our day, but it finally ended in a 3- 3 draw.
We played the better football and the signs must be encouraging for phil and his staff., some excellent linking from midfield to attack and some great defending, we are still missing a certain spark which will come in time, but from game to game we are improving for sure.
it was also nice to see Kevin back again.
I hope Jordon recovers quickly and would like to send our best wishes to him.
My man of the match has to go to Sam it was a brave thing to do and he made some great saves to keep us in the match and the chance to win it.
Well played Lads.
